Welcome to the world of Itchen Images and John Myall.
I am a self taught photographer having made images for more than 60 years. I started wirh my father’s Agfa Synchro box camera, with eight exposures on a roll of 120 film. I then bought a 35 mm camera and then a succession of 35 mm slr cameras – Practika, Pentax, Nikon and Canon, also Rolleiflex twin lens reflex cameras.
After a break from photgraphy and taking up painting, I then bought a digital camera in 2003.
I used a variety of Nikon cameras and lenses and spent few years as a wedding and events photographer.
Finding the Nikon gear very heavy to carry, I switched to Fujifilm. Excellent cameras and nowhere near the weight of Nikon.
Having given up the weddings and events, I now make images for me! I am lucky to live in the lower Itchen Valley in Hampshire, where there are stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife. I can often be found wandering along the River Itchen, or out in the new forest – if you are up early enough!
I am a member of the Royal Photographic Society, the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers, the Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers. I have won awards with some of my images and gained a Licentiate with Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers.
